Hyundai is gearing up to celebrate “N day” on July 15th and the company is building excitement by releasing teaser images of a mysterious new vehicle.

The first is little more than a blur, but the second certainly gets our attention as it appears to show a high-performance coupe hidden beneath a sheet.

While there isn’t much to see, the mystery model features a long hood and a rakish windscreen. We can also see two rear fins and a relatively flat roof that flows into a sloping rear window.

Hyundai is keeping details under wraps, but teased they’ll be “envisioning the future of N with legacy.” That isn’t much to go on, but the company has been working on an electric sports car with Rimac.

Earlier this year, reports suggested the project was nearly complete and would be introduced in early 2023. It remains unclear if that time table has been moved up, but an electric sports car would certainly be considered envisioning the future of N.

Regardless, Hyundai’s first high-performance electric production vehicle is slated to be the Ioniq 5 N. Prototypes have been spied on multiple occasions and the model features an assortment of upgrades including lightweight wheels that are backed up by a beefier braking system. The company hasn’t said much about the car, but it’s expected to be heavily inspired by the Kia EV6 GT which has a 77.4 kWh battery pack as well as a dual motor all-wheel drive system with 577 hp (430 kW / 585 PS) and 546 lb-ft (740 Nm) of torque. This enables the Kia to rocket from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.5 seconds.
