The 2022 BMW X3 xDrive30i has been recalled in the United States due to a high-pressure fuel rail issue but fortunately, just two vehicles are impacted.
The safety recall was triggered after BMW discovered that the high-pressure fuel rail may not have been produced by the supplier according to specifications, noting that the wall thickness of the rail may be smaller than required in certain locations. This could cause cracks to occur and may lead to a fuel leak within the engine compartment.
A fuel leak within the engine compartment in the presence of an ignition source could trigger a fire, BMW notes in the recall.

The German automaker commenced an engineering analysis of the issue after receiving a report of a high-pressure fuel rail problem on June 16, 2022 from an engine production plant. Supplier records revealed that a production tooling issue had occurred which could have led to certain fuel rails not being produced to specifications.
The recall impacts two BMW X3 xDrive30i models, both of which were produced on June 15, 2022.
BMW will notify impacted owners by phone and if necessary, also contact them by Fiat Class mail where they will be instructed to take their vehicle to an authorized BMW dealer to have the high-pressure fuel rail replaced free of charge.
The car manufacturer has not received any reports nor is it aware of any accidents or injuries that may have been caused by the fuel rail issue.
