Security camera footage has captured the moment that a vandal smashed the window of a Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Cabriolet.
This clip was shared to Instagram and reportedly captured in Pasadena, California. While the video is short, it is quite shocking.
In it, a man who appears to have a long, white beard, can be seen approaching the powerful sports car. He proceeds to throw something, likely a rock, at the driver’s side window, shattering it and sending glass falling to the pavement below.

Seconds later, a second man runs into view and apparently, he just so happened to be the owner of the Mercedes. He quickly chases after the vandal but after a few seconds, appears to stop, allowing the unidentified male to flee the scene.
It is unclear why the vandal targeted the Mercedes and if it was an unprovoked attack or if the man had had a prior encounter with the C 63 or its owner. Regardless of the reason, there’s no excuse for intentionally damaging a car like this and we’re hopeful that local authorities may be able to use this footage to identify the offender.
As for the Mercedes, a photo shared to Instagram shows that glass was strewn across the two-tone leather seats. The owner’s insurance policy should be able to handle the repairs without too much fuss but the owner may end up out of pocket a few hundred dollars.
People commenting on the Instagram post made their opinions of the vandal well known. “Jealousy is a hell of a drug,” one person wrote, while another said, “In other places, you’ll get your knee caps shattered for this.”
