Low-mileage cars don’t come much lower-mileage than this. This 1996 Honda Civic SiR hatchback has just 16 miles (26 km) on the odometer, was recently bought in Japan by Vistec Imports, and is now coming stateside.
The importer recently posted photos of the car on Instagram and shared more details and images of the Civic with us. Stored in a garage since new, the Civic is all original. It even still has plastic covers on the seats, and paper has been kindly placed over the carpets to keep them from getting too dusty.
“This is super exciting for me and one of a life time find and purchase,” the importer told us, and we can’t but agree.

Due to privacy policies at the auction house they bought this vehicle from, Vistec Imports wasn’t able to contact the person selling the car in Japan. Unfortunately, that means that the backstory behind why this gem remained untouched for more than a quarter-century is a mystery.
The company hasn’t shared how much it paid for the Civic, either, but did say that it has already refused a $70,000 offer for it. And that’s before it has even reached the U.S., which it is set to do in the next two months.
“I know My DM would be fill of ‘how much?’ Questions,” the owner of Vistec Imports said. “Offers in the six digits would be consider [sic]. If it’s to much no worry it would be stored in my personal collection for many years more.”
Although paying a six-figure sum for a Civic, even a low-mileage example, might sound too much, it’s hard to deny that a car like this one, a time machine the likes of which we rarely see, holds a certain fascination. It also presents the owner with a dilemma, though. Do you simply leave it in a temperature-controlled garage waiting for the right offer, or do you harm its value by actually enjoying it?
For now, though, the owner of Vistec Imports told us that he is perfectly fine keeping the car for himself.
