The last few years have seen prices for both new and used cars go through the roof. Despite that, a number of excellent used cars have been bought for a song from time to time. What we haven’t heard much of is excellent deals on new cars. That leads us to today’s question. What’s the best deal you’ve ever gotten on a new car?
We know that in this era of supply shortages, inflation, wild gas prices, and greedy dealer markups it’s seemingly harder than ever to walk away from a dealer feeling like you weren’t swindled but we think some of you might have pulled it off. A number of models that are either discontinued or about to be are seeing deep discounts to get them off of dealer lots.
Just last month we reported on the seriously deep discounts that Chevrolet was offering on the Bolt and the Bolt EUV. The former has a $5,900 sales incentive going on right now and the latter has an even larger $6,300 one. Beyond that singular example, very little stands out about the current market. As depleted inventories, rising auto loan interest, and high prices take hold it’s getting harder and harder to find a deal. In fact, it’s really the basic bare-bones sort of stuff that’s attractive in this market.
The RAM 1500 and the Chrysler 300 both have a 0 percent interest financing with bonus cash offer going on in July which seems to be about as enticing as it gets. This QOTD isn’t totally dead in the water though. Keep in mind too that this question can apply to deals you got in the past. That includes new cars bought before the pandemic and the chip shortage when the getting was good so to speak.
We’re sure that many of you have found ways to get big discounts on cars, trucks, and SUVs that you’ve loved even more because of how good a deal you got on them to begin with. Tell us about them in the comments below.
