The 2019 Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato concept looked like no other supercar thanks to its fat arch extensions, raised ride height, roof bars, skid plate and additional driving lights. But shorn of most of those features this prototype for the 2023 Sterrato production car is almost unrecognisable.
Looking like a Hollywood star snapped by paparazzi while sneaking out to the corner store without the ballgown and expensive makeup, it doesn’t create anywhere near the same impact as either the concept or the previous prototypes we’ve seen.

Even the ride height increase, which on the concept amounted to 1.85-inches (47 mm) of additional fresh air over the Huracan Evo’s, doesn’t look hugely noticeable, and the front bumper and side sill trim appears identical to the base car’s. That leaves the roof snorkel which feeds air to the V10 located behind the seats as the only give-away to this car’s true identity.
But don’t get too disappointed. A leaked photo showed a car with the arch extensions in place, so this is likely just a bitsa development hack, and we’re hopeful that the production Sterrato due at the end of this year will be a fairly close copy of the show car that knocked us all sideways in 2019.
Given the off-road theme, you can bet Lamborghini has equipped the Sterrato with the chassis from the all-wheel drive Huracan Evo, rather than the entry-level rear-drive car. And at this late stage in the now eight-year old Hurcan’s life cycle there won’t be any major drivetrain surprises under the engine cover. That means we’re looking at a naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10 capable of channelling 631 hp (640 PS) and 443 lb-ft (601 Nm) through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Are you a fan of this more subtle Sterrato look, or do you want to see Lamborghini recreate the concept, wild arch extensions and all?
