Renault is following up last year’s Trafic-based Hippie Caviar Hotel with the new Kangoo-based Hippie Caviar Motel concept.
Set to debut at the IAA Hanover Transportation show on September 19th, the van is being billed as a “roving, versatile and sprightly shelter for adventure and sports enthusiasts who are keen on wide open spaces and thrills.”
In effect, it’s envisioned as a mobile base camp for adventurists. Given its purpose, the model has been equipped with a roof rack that hold skis and an assortment of “smart storage spaces” that can hold sports equipment.

Elsewhere, we can see an eye-catching exterior with a two-tone paint job and a mountain graphic. The van also has Hippie Caviar Motel badging and a fading red window treatment on the rear doors.
Renault hasn’t released interior pictures, but said the cabin features a number of eco-friendly touches including shelves and a floor made of recycled tires and cork. The van also has a rear bench that transforms into a bed and this allows occupants to lay down and watch the stars at night through the panoramic glass roof.
Since the concept is based on the Kangoo L2 E-Tech Electric, it features a 45 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that powers a 118 hp (90 kW / 120 PS) electric motor. This setup gives the van a range of 177 miles (285 km) and should enable it to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in around 11.6 seconds.
