Tesla has launched a new cloud-based “Profiles” feature designed to make life easier for drivers who frequently drive multiple versions of the company’s EVs.
The feature is being launched with the latest over-air software update and will memorize vehicle settings, synchronising them when the profile owner jumps behind the wheel of another Tesla.
The tech could be useful for households that own multiple Teslas, for businesses that have multiple models on their fleets, and for anyone renting one of the company’s EVs. Last year Hertz announced the purchase of 100,000 Teslas, starting with the Model 3, and later expanding availability to include the model Y SUV.
According to Tesla’s Release Notes, Tesla Profiles allows synchronization of multiple features, including mirror, seat and steering wheel adjustments, autopilot, driving and climate control preferences, and navigation, media and data-sharing settings.

Other updates associated with the 2022.24.5 software release include the ability to choose the position of the blind-spot camera display, to uninstall video games to free space on the EV’s hard drive, and to disable Sentry Mode noises that might annoy neighbors, according to Electrek. The rear passenger climate controls can also now be set to automatic thanks to the update.
Meanwhile, Tesla drivers signed up for the company’s FSD (Full Self-Driving) Beta program are looking forward to enjoying their own software update. Elon Musk said that the rollout for FSD beta 10.69 would be “extra cautious” because of the many code changes involved, but Tesla has confirmed it will be available to everyone by the end of the 2022. Tesla is also increasing the price of the FSD package from $12,000 to $15,000 for any car purchased after September 5.
