There is nothing on earth quite like a Formula 1 engine and if you’ve always wanted to own one, now is your chance.
We all know that current F1 cars are powered by 1.6-liter turbocharged V6s and while these engines are impressive, they’ve never excited fans quite like the V8s, V10s, and V12s that came before them. This particular engine is one of those 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated V8s built by Cosworth and used by teams including Minardi, Red Bull, Toro Rosso, Williams, Lotus, HRT, Virgin, and Marussia.

These engines were built with aluminum alloy blocks and heads and came complete with a 98 mm cylinder bore and a 39.8 mm piston stroke. They also feature multi-point electronic fuel injection and at their peak, were capable of pumping out upwards of 915 hp and 300 lb-ft (407 Nm) of torque.
This particular V8 has been listed up for auction through Collecting Cars alongside a four-wheeled rolling stand. The listing fails to mention any details about the history of the engine, including whether or not it was ever raced, or if it has only ever been used as a display piece. It is also unclear if any of the internals, such as pistons, are present or if they have been removed. As is, it could only be used for display purposes but if it was complete and someone was willing to source an original ECU, we don’t see why it couldn’t be revived.
