General Motors has issued two recalls impacting select Cadillac XT5, XT6, and GMC Acadia models.
The most significant of the two recalls impacts 95,231 vehicles. A notice issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) states that vehicles equipped with the optional Surround Vision feature have a rear-view camera that may fail or function intermittently. If the camera isn’t functioning correctly, rear visibility will be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash.
The camera may fail because the crimping process used to attach connectors on the coaxial cables may have been insufficient to provide consistent signal quality.

This action impacts a total of 29,692 Cadillac XT5 models built between May 1, 2019 and June 23, 2021, no less than 29,837 Cadillac XT6 models built between February 25, 2019 and June 24, 2021, and some 44,702 GMC Acadia models built from May 6, 2019 to June 24, 2021. These are all 2020 and 2021MYs.
GM will resolve the issue by replacing the coaxial cables on impacted vehicles.
The second recall also impacts Cadillac XT5, XT6, and GMC Acadia models but only 2023 vehicles that were produced on August 9, 2022. In this case, vehicles were manufactured with a label on the driver’s side B-pillar containing tire-size information that may not be legible. The issue was triggered by a printing error and picked up by quality audits at GM’s assembly plant on August 10. The label issue means vehicles do not comply with S4.3.3 of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110.
A total of 24 vehicles are involved in this recall. The problem will be fixed by dealers replacing the vehicle certification label with one that is legible.
