Polestar published yet another teaser of the upcoming Polestar 3 while revealing more information about the electric performance SUV that is set to debut on October 12.
Polestar’s first SUV will be based on the Volvo EX90 flagship, the EV successor of the XC90. It will however bring a fully redesigned body with a sportier stance and a more aerodynamic roofline, alongside a unique and more powerful dual-motor powertrain and a version-specific chassis setup by Polestar Engineering.

More specifically, the dual-motor powertrain will produce up to 510 hp (380 kW / 517 PS) and 910 Nm (671.2 lb-ft) of torque when specified with the optional Performance Pack. Those figures are quite impressive, but the SUV is less powerful than the Polestar 5 electric grand tourer. The system will offer all-wheel-drive capability and it will be rear-biased, with torque vectoring made possible via a dual-clutch system on the rear-mounted electric motor.
Polestar Engineering will specifically tune the active dampers and the dual-chamber air suspension for sharper driving dynamics, with automatic adjustments made once every two milliseconds. Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO, said that the model has an “instant ability to transform from a comfortable cruiser to a sharp, agile performance car in less than the blink of an eye”, benefiting from “a low center of gravity and wide tracks”. From a previous announcement we also know that the targeted electric range is over 600 km (372 miles) in the WLTP cycle, made possible by a large battery pack.
Visually, we have pretty much seen the Polestar 3 from every angle, including a revealing profile shot. The latest teaser shot is focused on the back, showing the full-width LED taillights and the narrow rear windshield. Polestar also revealed that the SUV will have gold accents on the valve caps, seatbelts, and the laser-etched interior light strip. As with the Volvo EX90, the Polestar 3 will be equipped with advanced safety systems while featuring centralized core computing from NVIDIA.
The Polestar 3 will debut in a special event in Copenhagen, Denmark, on October 12, curated by CEO Thomas Ingenlath and Head of Design Maximilian Missoni. The event will be broadcasted live on YouTube at the following link.
