This is the Tata Tiago.ev, created specifically for the Indian market, and carrying a starting price of just 8.49 Lakh or ($10,370) at current exchange rates.

The Tiago.ev takes the form of a hatchback that will be available in a plethora of different configurations to suit the needs and budgets of customers. Tata’s entry-level version is dubbed the XE and sports a tiny 19.2 kWh battery pack. Despite the small size of the battery, Tata says the Tiago.ev XE is good for 155 miles (255 km) of range on the Modified Indian Driving Cycle (MIDC).

Those seeking an EV with a slightly larger battery pack and more range can opt to have the Tiago.ev equipped with a 24 kWh pack in XT, XZ+, XZ+ Tech LUX guises, the latter two of which are available with either 3.3 kW AC or 7.2 kW AC charging options.

Models equipped with the 24 kWh pack are good for as much as 194 miles (315 km) of range. The most expensive variant, the 24 kWh XZ+ Tech LUX with 7.2 kW AC charging has been priced at 11.79 Lakh ($14,449). Tata says plugging the Tiago.ev into a fast charger can add 110 km of range in just 30 minutes.

Powering the front wheels is a single permanent magnet synchronous motor that pumps out 74 hp (55 kW) and 84 lb-ft (114 Nm) of torque. While Tata hasn’t quoted a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time, it does claim the Tiago.ev can hit 60 km/h (37 mph) from a standstill in 5.7 seconds.

Both the electric motor and battery pack come with an 8-year/160,000 km warranty.
