Ford has teased the new 2023 Transit Trail Van that it will soon launch to capture a slice of the ever-growing motorhome/van segment.
Previewed with a couple of photos and a short video, the Ford Transit Trail Van has “new adventure-seeking capability alongside interior and exterior enhancements providing do-it-yourselfers and motorhome distributors a turnkey canvas direct from the factory.”
This statement from the automaker suggests that the Transit Trail Van won’t come fully equipped as a motorhome from the factory but instead serve as a good base for those wanting to commit to van life.

These teasers show that the Transit Trail will feature a unique grille with three pronounced amber-colored lights. We also know that the van will be based on the large 250 variant and that it will come standard with distinctive wheels and off-road-focused tires. Ford will also fit more prominent cladding to the wheel arches and is expected to increase the van’s ride height. The undercarriage may also be strengthened, making it better suited to off-road adventures.
No powertrain details have been announced for the U.S.’s Transit Trail but customers may be offered a choice between a 275 hp 3.5-liter V6 and a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, just as they are with standard Transit models. All variants are expected to feature all-wheel drive as standard.
In the teaser, Ford says that “on the road to van life, a few simple lessons can lead to many big adventures.”
While we know that the vehicle will be unveiled in November, a specific date has not yet been announced.
