The Corolla Hybrid lineup has been expanded for 2023 and Toyota is celebrating the addition of the new Hybrid SE grade by introducing an Infrared Edition.
Available in Ice Cap, Midnight Black Metallic or Underground, the Corolla Hybrid SE Infrared Edition features bright red accents on the bumpers and side skirts. They’re joined by 18-inch Gloss Graphite alloy wheels, which come standard on the SE trim.
The theme continues in the cabin as buyers will find red accents on the seats, door panels, shifter, and floor mats. They’re joined by standard SE content such as heavily bolstered front seats, a Smart Key, and an 8-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia system that offers cloud-based navigation, over-the-air updates, and an Intelligent Assistant that responds to the “Hey, Toyota” wake word.

Other SE highlights include a sport-tuned suspension, an enhanced Sport driving mode, and a retuned electronic power steering system with a “firmer” feel. Buyers will also find a sportier exterior with gloss black accents, a more expressive front fascia, and a rear diffuser.
Like the rest of the lineup, the Infrared Edition is powered by an upgraded Toyota Hybrid System that consists of a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, a small lithium-ion battery, and two motor-generators. This enables the model to produce 134 hp (100 kW / 136 PS) and 156 lb-ft (211 Nm) of torque.
More importantly, the Corolla Hybrid can return up to 50 mpg city, 43 mpg highway, and 47 mpg combined. The special edition is available with front- or all-wheel drive, and you can read more about the upgraded hybrid powertrain and the new all-wheel drive system in our review of the 2023 Corolla Hybrid.
The Corolla Hybrid SE Infrared Edition is slated to be launched later this year. There’s no word on pricing at this point, but expect a slight premium over the Hybrid SE’s base price of $25,200, excluding a $1,095 destination fee.
