The 2024 Audi A4 Avant has been spied stretching its legs on the Nürburgring, ahead of an expected unveiling next year.

Dressed in swirly camouflage, the wagon has an evolutionary design that is instantly recognizable. However, there are plenty of changes including a wider and shorter singleframe grille.

The grille resides above an enlarged intake and is flanked by vertical air curtains. We can also see sweptback headlights, which are a bit more curvaceous than their predecessors.

The rest of the design is more evolutionary, but we can see streamlined bodywork and new flush-mounted door handles. They’re joined by a sloping roof and a familiar greenhouse.

Spy photographers didn’t get a good look inside, but previous pictures have shown the model will be equipped with a freestanding digital instrument cluster and a floating infotainment system. The latter is significantly larger than the display used in the current model and it will have dedicated climate controls on the bottom section of the screen.

Other interior changes will include a new steering wheel that appears to be shared with the Q4 e-tron. Drivers will also find slender air vents and a revamped center console that features a Q4-like shifter, repositioned cup holders, and a dedicated volume controller.

Specifications remain a closely guarded secret, but the car is expected to ride on an updated version of the MLB platform. Reports have also suggested we can expect an assortment of powertrains including petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid options. However, the manual transmission that is offered in certain markets, such as Germany, could potentially go away.
