Chevrolet recently announced the 2024 Silverado EV RST First Edition will have 754 hp (562 kW / 764 PS) and 785 lb-ft (1,063 Nm) of torque, and now Ford CEO Jim Farley has revealed the F-150 Lightning is faster than originally expected.

In a series of tweets, Farley revealed the F-150 Lightning with the extended range battery is capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in less than four seconds. That’s significantly faster than the company’s original estimate of being in the mid-four second range.

The time also means the F-150 Lightning could be faster than the aforementioned Silverado as well as the recently revealed GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1. Both of GM’s trucks are slated to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in less than 4.5 seconds, so only time will tell who is faster.

Farley went on to note the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time for Lightnings equipped with the standard range battery is 4.1 seconds. That’s quick, especially considering the output of 462 hp (345 kW / 468 PS) and 775 lb-ft (1,050 Nm) of torque doesn’t look overly impressive on paper. The extended range variant, on the other hand, has 580 hp (433 kW / 588 PS) and the same amount of torque.

While the F-150 Lightning could be faster than competitors, the Silverado and Sierra EVs are expected to offer up to 400 miles (644 km) of range. If that pans out, it would give them a sizable advantage over the F-150, which maxes out at 320 miles (515 km) of range.
