The Ford Kuga/Escape might be getting a facelift soon as proven by the undisguised prototypes caught driving around, but the current model originally introduced in 2019 still has some life in it. Ford Europe launched the Kuga ST Line X Black Package, including black 20-inch alloy wheels and black accents, while adding a new AGR-certified seat option for improved comfort.
The SUV looks sexier with the black-painted roof, mirror caps, front apron, and rear spoiler, in combination with the sporty-looking ST-Line bodykit and the standard 20-inch alloy wheels. Other details are the black ST-Line badges on the front fenders and Kuga lettering on the tailgate.

Another new feature besides the Black Package is a new option for the front seats. A new set of comfort seats approved by the spinal health organization Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V. (AGR) can be adjusted in eighteen ways (height, length, inclination, lumbar, headrest, etc.).
Ford says that the Kuga PHEV was Europe’s best-selling plug-in hybrid last year, with more than 23,000 units sold. The electrified SUV offers an EV range of 57-67 km (35-42 miles) in the combined WLTP cycle. The 2.5-liter engine in combination with an electric motor produces 222 hp (165 kW / 225 PS) and 200 Nm (147 lb-ft) of torque, transmitted to the front axle.
Besides the PHEV powertrain, the Kuga is also available with hybrid, petrol, and diesel engines in Europe although we don’t know which of those will be carried over in the upcoming facelift. Judging from the press shots depicting an AWD model with dual exhaust pipes, the Black Package is available in combination with multiple powertrain options.
