2023 Lexus LS Gets Safety And Infotainment Upgrades In Japan

A series of updates have been made to the 2023 Lexus LS in Japan, aimed at making it even better.

Improvements made to the Lexus LS start under the skin as the shape of the brace where the rear suspension member is attached has been changed. The automaker says it has also made this suspension member more rigid and that the suspension has been tuned accordingly to improve ride quality.

Elsewhere, Lexus has launched new 20-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in 245/45 R20 run-flat tires as an option for the limited “Hideki Matsuyama Edition” released in 2021.

Lexus LS models equipped with the Lexus Teammate advanced driver assistance technology also benefit from some performance improvements, including better deceleration control. Lexus has also expanded the system’s ability to offer lane change assistance and when driving at a merging point at low speeds or when approaching a vehicle in front, a display and a buzzer will alert the driver of surrounding vehicles.

Updates have also been made to the panoramic view monitor with newly-added see-through, side clearance, and cornering views.

The fitment of Lexus’s updated multimedia system rounds out the improvements. This tweaked system will always display icons on the driver’s side for important navigation, music, and vehicle settings. The voice recognition function can now be activated by pressing a microphone button on the screen or by voice. Wireless Apple CarPlay has also been added while Lexus has also removed the touch pad controller and both the CD/DVD players, allowing frequently used controls like those of the heated and ventilated seats to be positioned more conveniently.

Lexus notes that the amplifier and speakers have also been revised to provide better sound quality while the My Lexus smartphone app can also be used to control the LS’s air conditioning remotely.

Japanese pricing for the 2023 Lexus LS starts at 10,780,000 yen ($73,142) and tops out at 17,960,000 yen ($121,866).
