Lucid announced this week that it is rolling out Lucid UX 2.0, its “most extensive software update thus far.” The automaker claims that new software adds hundreds of updates and new features for every Air on the road.
The complimentary update is being delivered over-the-air to owners and makes some systems work better, while others get entirely new features. Lucid UX 2.0 “includes enhancements for virtually every user touchpoint in the car,” the automaker says.
Highlights include a new “instant-on” function for the infotainment and instrument cluster displays. This optimizes the boot-up process for these screens, so that the car is ready to drive as soon as the driver is seated and buckled up. Automatic locking and unlocking have also been made simpler and more intuitive.

New layouts within the Glass Cockpit display, meanwhile, mean that the screen is more ergonomically friendly than before. Lucid has moved the controls for the most-used apps, such as Home, Media, Phone, and Navigation, to make them more easily accessible.
That last app has also been updates to offer turn-by-turn instruction on the center display, right in front of the driver. Its remaining range predictions, meanwhile, have become more intelligent and more accurate.
Elsewhere, Lucid’s advanced driver assistance system, DreamDrive, has been improved so that Highway Assist with active lane centering and adaptive cruise control make long journeys more comfortable. Rear pedestrian alert is now also available when the car is in drive but is rolling backwards, and the visual cues for the Park Distance Warning feature have been improved.
The automatic high-beam feature, too, has been improved to detect not just headlights, but other sources of light as well. That makes the car better at determining when to switch from high to low beams. The automatic headlight leveling system now uses sensor-based adjustments for height and vehicle angle in relation to the ground.
For Lucid owners in colder climes, a new De-Ice mode uses defrost, automatic wiper blade movement, and wiper fluid to clear ice that could obstruct the view through the windshield.
“This extensive software update, comprising tens of millions of new lines of source code across nearly every updateable computer in the vehicle, is achievable because the Lucid Air was engineered from the start with the capability to get better over time,” said Michael Bell, Senior Vice President of Digital, Lucid Group. “Thanks to our integrated software and hardware engineering, Lucid has the in-house technical depth to enhance our vehicles long after they leave the assembly line.”
