Maserati will launch the latest-generation GranCabrio convertible in 2023 and offer it with the same powertrains as the new GranTurismo.
When it arrives, the GranCabrio will occupy a small segment of the market, particularly when equipped with the available electric powertrain. Maserati’s head of global products Massimo Capaldi described its positioning as “very unique” in an interview with Autocar.
Much like its predecessor, the new GranCabrio will be positioned above the GranTurismo in the automaker’s range and come at a price premium. In the UK, it will set back shoppers well over £200,000 ($227,900).

The entry-level version of the GranTurismo, dubbed the Modena, is powered by Maserati’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 Nettuno engine, detuned from the MC20 and pumping out 490 hp and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque. These figures are enough to send the car to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.9 seconds and through to a 188 mph (302 km/h) top speed.
Those seeking more performance can go with the GranTurismo Trofeo, rocking a tuned version of the same engine with 550 hp and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque. Last but not least is the GranTurismo Folgore with an 800-volt architecture, three electric motors, a 92.5 kWh battery pack, and delivering a combined 751 hp and 996 lb-ft (1,350 Nm) of torque.
The 2023 Maserati GranCabrio is tipped to be offered in the same number of configurations but its performance times may suffer as it will likely weigh a little more. Nevertheless, the Folgore variant should be able to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than 3.0 seconds and top out close to the 199 mph (320 km/h) achievable in the GranTurismo.
