Although it was first revealed in 1977, the Porsche 928’s was so timeless that it continued being produced well into the mid ’90s. This is your chance to buy one of the rarest and best-looking of all the front-engine Porsches.

Built in 1991, this is one of the later versions of the Porsche 928, which is known as the S4. Despite being made before the introduction of the final “GTS” model, it features the same bodywork that became associated with that edition because the person who bought it from the factory selected the now highly sought-after XX8 package.

That means that this car has a number of special styling cues, most notably, flared wheel arches and enhanced interior trim. Thought to be just one of 79 examples in existence, it is a very special example.

This particular example is painted Midnight Blue Metallic with a gray and navy blue leather interior, making it an attractive example of the breed. Although there are some signs of age, overall the car appears to be in excellent condition and has 133,753 km (83,110 miles) on the odometer.

Under the hood, meanwhile, the matching-numbers chassis and engine remain. That engine, is a 5.0-liter double-overhead cam V8 with four valves per cylinder that churns out 316 hp (235 kW/320 PS)

Despite being sold new to a Japanese customer, and now being with the Japanese-language user’s manual and documentation to prove it, this car is actually left-hand-drive, which ought to make it more appealing to a number of buyers outside the country.

Indeed, the car was eventually returned to Europe, where it now lives. As a result of that, it was able to undergo maintenance at Porsche Zentrum Hofheim and PS Klassik between 2015 and 2022. It’s now being sold through RM Sotheby’s at its Motorworld Munchen event in Munich, Germany.
