As of recently, Rivian‘s Canadian operations have been suffering delays, but a new report suggests things could be on the upswing for customers looking to receive their electric trucks and SUVs from the manufacturer.

It was believed that the initial snag in the delivery timeline came from a failure to meet import certification standards set in place by Transport Canada, as Drive Tesla Canada reports. However, Automotive News Canada reached out to Rivian, who said that Transport Canada simply needed more information and additional documentation before certification could be completed.

Sure enough, one day later, it was reported by Drive Tesla Canada that Rivian had received their certification, and now Transport Canada’s Preclearance List of Recognized Vehicle Importers includes the R1T and R1S. Rivian had previously said they’d begin deliveries of the R1T and R1S to Canadian customers by the second half of 2023, and while that has yet to be confirmed to still be the case after the delays, it seems as though their plan is on track.

All this news comes after reports of Canada’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change saying that there’s a lack of support and incentives for EV consumers, and that the country needs to adopt a “carrot and stick” approach if they want to facilitate mass EV adoption. With any luck, Rivian’s long-awaited entry into the Canadian market can help further those efforts.
