The Toyota GR86 just got another option for an extensive makeover by Aerodynamic Development Race Optimization (ADRO). The company revealed a complete styling kit for the Japanese sportscar, with ultra-wide fender add-ons and bespoke bumpers
The GR86 has received plenty of love from a large number of tuners – especially in its home market in Japan. ADRO’s take, however, is one of the wildest yet, looking similar to the crazy renderings we come across from time to time.

At the front, we find a sharper and lower nose, much larger bumper intakes, and an integrated splitter that is almost touching the ground. The front bumper is merging with the bolt-on fenders, covering the significantly wider tracks. The side gills, the aerodynamic side sills, and the bolt-on rear fenders complete the looks, in combination with the rather tall swan-neck rear wing made of carbon fiber, and the more pronounced diffuser. Note that the aftermarket wheels and the slammed air suspension of the pictured vehicle are not included in ADRO’s offering.
Each kit is made of fiber-reinforced polymer and wet carbon fiber and takes more than 40 hours to complete by hand. Design work was completed in California, while manufacturing takes place in Korea. Development started with a 3D scan of the Toyota GR86, in order for the additional components to achieve OEM levels of fitment.
The aerodynamic performance of the kit was tested using CFD analysis. According to Scott Beeton, ADRO’s Chief Aerodynamicist, their bodykit provides an additional 250lbs of downforce compared to the stock GR86, while adding minimal weight due to the lightweight construction. The tuner is not offering any chassis or performance upgrades for the sportscar, so those who want a power boost over the standard 228 hp (170 kW / 231 PS) from the naturally-aspirated 2.4-liter boxer should look elsewhere.
The ADRO Toyota GR86 will be showcased at the SEMA show this November. In the same month, the tuner will start taking preorders at a price of $4,750 for the complete styling kit. Besides the Toyota GR86, the kit is also compatible with the Subaru BRZ sibling, expanding the target audience.
