A twin-turbocharged Lamborghini Huracan said to be pumping out 2,000 hp has been destroyed after a crash at a drag racing event in Sydney, Australia.

Footage of the incident shows the Italian supercar lining up alongside another car and beginning to accelerate down the straight of Sydney Motorsport Park as part of a rolling drag race.

The Huracan initially pulls away fine but as the speeds increase, the rear wheels lose traction and the car violently swerves to the right, slamming into the steel crash barrier on the side of the track. To make matters worse, the force of this impact bounces the car back onto the track where it proceeds to slide backward and into the barrier.

A pair of images taken after the crash reveals the extent of the damage done. The front of the heavily modified Huracan has been completely destroyed with the hood almost completely torn off, the bumper and grille smashed, and the windshield shattered. Damage sustained to the rear of the car is equally as extensive and we can see that the carbon fiber diffuser has been torn off, a rear quarter panel badly dented, and the taillights have been destroyed.

It is understood that the driver of the car escaped the crash without injury. That driver was Mohamad Alameddine who is thought to be linked to the Alameddine crime family and the Comanchero bikie gang, Sky News reports.

It appears unlikely that the Lamborghini will be repairable and in all likelihood, the owner will simply replace it with another expensive exotic.
