WEY, the car manufacturer owned by Great Wall Motors, is asking the public for help to tweak the design of the new WEY 80 full-size SUV.
Images of the new SUV recently surfaced online in China, triggering unfavorable responses about its design. The front fascia of the 80 is particularly bold because of the body-colored grille and arrow-shaped headlights.
Seemingly as a way to respond to criticisms of the design, WEY recently made a post on Weibo, asking for help on the SUV’s design. Car News China notes that anyone who responded within 24 hours of the post being shared would be able to send their design project to the car manufacturer which will proceed to review them.

WEY has not yet confirmed if it will indeed alter the design of the 80 to reflect the changes suggested by Weibo users. The company has also asked for name ideas, indicating that the SUV may also undergo a naming change before it hits the market.
As it stands, the WEY 80 is very similar in size to the Audi Q7, measuring 5,105 mm (200.9 inches) long, 1,985 mm (78 inches) wide, and 1,800 mm (70.8 inches) tall, complete with a 3,050 mm (120 inch) wheelbase.
Just a single powertrain has been confirmed for the SUV. It consists of a 1.5-liter combustion engine that works alongside an electric motor to deliver a combined 410 hp and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. Providing the electric motor with its juice is a sizeable 44.5 kWh battery pack that gives the SUV an all-electric range of 108 miles (175 km).
Pricing details have not yet been confirmed but local media understands that the SUV will cost between 350,000 RMB ($48,251) and 400,000 RMB ($55,145).
