The all-electric Aiways U6 has been showcased in full and is now available to order in Germany.
The Chinese car manufacturer has equipped the U6 with the same 63 kWh battery pack as the U5, complete with 24 CATL modules that can be charged at speeds of up to 90 kW at a DC fast charging station. This battery then drives a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor with 215 hp (160 kW) and 232 lb-ft (315 Nm) of torque. Aiways says the sleek SUV can travel up to 400 km (249 miles) on a single charge under WLTP testing and that average energy consumption sits between 15.9 kWh/100 km and 16.6 kWh/100 km.
Charging the battery pack from 30 to 80 per cent takes approximately 30 minutes through a 90 kW DC fast charger. The SUV can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in a touch under seven seconds.

Found in the cabin of the Aiways U6 are a host of impressive technologies. The centerpiece is a 14.6-inch infotainment display while serving as the digital instrument cluster is a narrow 8.2-inch display strip behind the steering wheel. Aiways has also equipped the U6 with a complex ambient lighting system that can create 360 different lighting moods.
Other interesting aspects of the car’s interior include partially concealed air vents up front and a gear selector in the center console inspired by the lever of a luxury yacht. Aiways has also equipped the U6 with unique seats with reinforced side and back bolsters.
The infotainment system used by Aiways is dubbed AI-Tech and runs Android-based software to give it a familiar feel. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also supported.
“Aiways has grown tremendously in a short period of time and we are very pleased with the foundation we have laid in Europe,” vice president of Overseas Operations at Aiways, Dr. Alexander Klose said in a statement. “By the end of 2022, we are aiming for at least five-digit sales thanks to the growing popularity of the U5 SUV, as well as through the new U6 SUV-Coupé model. The Aiways story is just beginning. We are proud that our products are manufactured in China to international standards, and I believe this has become a hallmark of engineering excellence. Our U5 SUV has made a strong impression in the highly competitive European market. High-tech features, modern design, advanced electric car technology and an affordable price make it an attractive option for first-time electric car buyers, we will now build on this foundation with the U6 SUV-Coupé.”
German pricing for the Aiways U6 kicks off from €41,001 (the equivalent of $42,493) after a €6,500 ($6,736) tax subsidy or €47,501 ($49,229) without, which places it squarely directly against the VW ID.5 that starts from €47,935 ($49,679). Deliveries will begin in the first half of 2023.
