Ex-Koenigsegg Designer Partners With Unplugged Performance To Design Wheels For Tesla Cybertruck

The folks over at Unplugged Performance have collaborated with designer Sasha Selipanov to create “the first wheel designed and engineered specifically for the Cybertruck.” The “brutalist” hexagon-filled barrels called the UP CYBERHEX will set customers back at least $1,498. Thankfully, you can get your hands on them now so that they’ll be ready whenever the Tesla Cybertruck finally goes into production.

Selipanov is the automotive designer we interviewed not long ago. He’s responsible for iconic designs like the Genesis Essentia, the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo, the Chiron, and the Koenigsegg Gemera, among others. He loves clearly focused design briefs and it’s clear that this was right up his alley. That’s clearly seen in a 2007 design he created called the Pharaoh which looks like it almost could’ve inspired the Tesla Cybertruck itself.

“It is fantastic to see the return of brutalist “wedge” shapes to car design,” he said. “Pioneered in the 1970s by the great Italian design masters this form language always looked towards the future and towards space exploration in particular. My 2007 Pharaoh sketches were inspired by that era in car design, I am thrilled to have contributed to Unplugged Performance’s new CYBRHEX wheel.”

Taking a gander at that original sketch it’s easy to see why this collaboration makes so much sense. The Pharaoh is clearly futuristic and its wheels lend directly to the UP CYBERHEX wheels now available. As an homage to the designer, Selipanov’s signature “Sash!” has been engraved on the barrel of the wheel. Selipanov worked directly with Unplugged Performance founder Ben Schaffer.

Unplugged Performance itself is well-known for a bevy of aftermarket products for Tesla vehicles. It even has performance upgrades, performance brakes, and performance suspension parts for the Cybertruck that are “coming soon.” For now, the wheels alone are available for order. The good news is that they’ll fit on any current Tesla model.

Unplugged Performance even shows them off on a Tesla Model 3 and a Model S below and they certainly make the cars stand out. UP says that there’s more on the way too. We can’t wait to see it.
