Ford Mustang Raptor R Is An Imaginary Jacked-Up Pony That We’d Love To See In Reality

The following story includes renderings of a fictional Mustang Raptor R created by Oscar Vargas that are neither related to nor endorsed by Ford.

Ford will be absent from this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas, but an independent digital artist envisioned something many fans would like to see, at least in the form of a one-off concept. The Ford Mustang Raptor R is an off-road-prepped version of the iconic muscle car, looking ready to conquer the outback.

The digital-only concept was created by Oscar Vargas who goes under the name @wb.artist20 on Instagram. For this project, he collaborated with Stewart Webb, a.k.a @the_xcalibur, using the all-new S650 generation of the Ford Mustang as a base. Their goal was to create a Mustang that is worthy of the Raptor badge.

Predictably, the Ford Mustang Raptor R sits a lot higher than the stock model thanks to a revised suspension and a new set of wheels shod in beefy A/T tires. Wide fender extensions with integrated marker lights cover the wider tracks and connect through protective side sills.

At the front, the designer added a bespoke bumper looking very similar to the one on the Ford Ranger Raptor, finished in unpainted plastic with an aluminum-style skid plate and recovery points, and the grille got the signature Ford lettering and extra LEDs. The black-painted bulged bonnet hints at a powerful V8, while a similar matte-black finish has been added to the roof and the tailgate. Finally, the rear end gains a new wing, a skid plate between the quad tailpipes, and Ford RaptoR lettering on the boot.

The Raptor family by Ford Performance currently includes the Ranger, the F-150, and the Bronco. While the company could expand the off-road-focused offerings in the future, it is highly unlikely for the pony car to get the Raptor treatment. We must not forget though that Lamborghini is about to unveil the Huracan Sterato, which could lead to a new trend with jacked-up sporstcars and supercars.
