Hyundai’s new concierge service called ‘Hyundai Home’ that wants to make EV owner’s life more simple by bundling home chargers, solar panels, and even home battery systems through a one-stop marketplace platform was officially launched to the wider public in 16 states today.
During the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show, Hyundai showed off its Home proof of concept. “Last year, we introduced Hyundai Home as a proof of concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show and the response was outstanding,” said Olabisi Boyle, vice president, product planning and mobility strategy, Hyundai Motor North America. “Hyundai Home is now live and is ready to help customers make a seamless transition to sustainable living.”
The Hyundai Home ecosystem certainly takes the guesswork out of what parts or pieces a person might need to add electric vehicle infrastructure to their home. To achieve that simplicity, the automaker has partnered with Electrum, a service that already has a nationwide network and relationships with certified installers.

“We’re honored to partner with Hyundai, a leader in smart mobility, to help consumers seamlessly adopt clean and resilient home energy solutions, enabling them to choose how they power their homes and electric vehicles,” said Max Aram, Electrum’s CEO. “We’ve built a world class experience for consumers and can’t wait to see their excitement when they realize how easy we’ve made their clean energy transition.”
Customers can go to the HyundaiHomeMarketplace website to see if their area is currently covered by the service. As of today, it’s available in 16 states with instant cost estimates from multiple installers and expert advisors to answer questions and make recommendations.
At launch, there are some limitations. To begin with, the only charger available is a ChargePoint Home Flex EV charger, a 240-volt, Level 2 unit. While leasing isn’t an option for Hyundai Home components, all systems come with a one-year production and performance guarantee. For the time being, Hyundai Home products are specifically for residential use only though. Renters will have to look elsewhere for their home charging needs.
