The Performance Kit fitted to the Porsche Taycan that recently broke the production EV record at the Nurburgring could be sold in markets outside of Germany.

Porsche’s Performance Kit is currently only available through the Tequipment store in Germany and played an important role in the car setting a lap time of 7 minutes and 33.35 seconds, beating the time of the Tesla Model S Plaid. Soon, the €13,377 ($13,906) kit could be offered in various other markets.

A Porsche spokesperson made the revelation during a recent interview with Autocar, noting that the main hurdle was attaining type approval for each market where it could sell the kit. The kit includes a set of 21-inch RS Spyder alloy wheels that are clad in 275 mm front and 325 mm rear Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires. These tires are a little wider than the 265 mm front and 305 mm rear tires sold as standard on the Taycan Turbo S. The Performance Kit also includes bespoke suspension software.

It is unclear which markets Porsche could sell the Performance Kit in but speaking with Motor1, Porsche North America admitted that it is “investigating the possibility” of selling the kit.

Interestingly, Porsche could be working on a more potent version of the Taycan that outperforms even a Turbo S equipped with the Performance Kit. This model was recently spied undergoing testing at the Nurburgring and was outfitted with a host of bespoke aerodynamic parts, including a revised front fascia, a new rear diffuser, and a large fixed rear wing. If this model has indeed been conceived to sit above the Turbo S in the Taycan range, it will likely also benefit from a number of mechanical upgrades aimed at improving performance even further.
