A new color has just been introduced by Tesla and while it doesn’t rival some of the bright colors offered by some other premium brands, it does catch the eye.
The new color is dubbed Quicksilver and is produced exclusively at Giga Berlin, the automaker’s German production facility. Found within this factory is an advanced new paint shop that can apply up to 13 layers of paint. This particular Tesla Model Y was displayed by the car manufacturer at the recent Auto Zurich event in Switzerland.

Tesla’s current color palette is quite limited but the carmaker has been planning to grow its offerings for quite some time with the Berlin paint shop. In the past, Elon Musk said the shops would add “more layers of stunning colors that subtly change with curvature.” Quicksilver certainly looks good, glistening under the lights at the event and really accentuating some of the design lines and creases across the EV’s exterior.

This isn’t the only new color recently made available by Tesla in Germany. A color dubbed Midnight Cherry Red is also being brought to life at Giga Berlin.
The new shade of Quicksilver has been added to the Tesla Model Y’s configurator in Germany and already appears to be quite popular with estimated delivery dates of Model Y’s painted this color scheduled for February-April 2023, whereas Model Ys with Tesla’s legacy colors are scheduled for delivery between December 2022 and February 2023. Meanwhile, models ordered in Midnight Cherry Red won’t be delivered until May-July 2023.
