For quite some time, prices of used Mercedes-Benz SLR McLarens were stagnate and showed little sign of increasing. Over the past couple of years, however, prices have started to rise and this particular unit is one of the priciest we’ve come across.
Listed up for auction through Bring a Trailer, this SLR McLaren is a limited-run 722 S Roadster variant that was built to celebrate Sir Stirling Moss’s victory at the Mille Miglia in 1955. It is a Canadian-spec model and is being sold with approximately 8,000 km (~5,000 miles) on the clock, a clean Carfax report, and Ontario registration. With six days left to go in the auction, bidding had already hit $700,000.
The exterior of this Mercedes is finished in Crystal Galaxite Black Metallic and it also sits on dark 19-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires measuring 255/35 at the front and 295/30 at the rear. It also sports red brake calipers and has a host of carbon fiber parts, including the front splitter and rear diffuser.

Found in the cabin of the car are power-adjustable carbon fiber-backed seats clad in Black Silver Arrow leather upholstery with red stitching, microfiber inserts, and ‘722’ insignias on the headrests. The doors, dashboard, and center console are also clad in a host of carbon fiber accents while other key features include a trunk-mounted CD changer, Bose audio system, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
As with all other SLR McLaren 722 S models, power comes courtesy of a 5.4-liter supercharged V8 pumping out 641 hp and 605 lb-ft (820 Nm) of torque when it was new. This engine is coupled to a five-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. The listing reveals the car underwent a service in November 2021 where the hood struts, accessory belts, spark plugs, and spark plug wires were replaced.
