Chevrolet recently announced the 2023 Colorado will start at $30,695 and now GMC has revealed the redesigned Canyon will begin at $38,095.

Offered exclusively in a Crew Cab short box configuration, the 2023 Canyon costs thousands more than its bowtie counterpart.  However, the truck comes better equipped and features a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 310 hp (231 kW / 314 PS) and 430 lb-ft (582 Nm) of torque. This stands in contrast to the Colorado, which offers base and mid-level 2.7-liter engines with outputs as low as 237 hp (177 kW / 240 PS) and 259 lb-ft (351 Nm) of torque.

Putting the engine aside, the entry-level Canyon Elevation features a stylish exterior with LED IntelliBeam headlights, a CornerStep rear bumper, and 18-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in 32-inch tires.  Buyers will also find privacy glass and a remote locking tailgate.

The interior has been significantly improved and sports an 8-inch digital instrument cluster as well as an 11.3-inch infotainment system with Google integration as well as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.  Other highlights include cloth bucket front seats, a six-speaker audio system, and a soft-touch instrument panel for a more premium appearance.  They’re joined by power windows / locks, cruise control, and a passive entry system with a push-button ignition.

Buyers will find an assortment of driver assistance systems including Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning.  There’s also a rearview camera with hitch guidance.

The Elevation trim is the only GMC Canyon to come standard with rear-wheel drive, but four-wheel drive is available.  However, it will set you back an extra $3,300.

Moving up the trim ladder is the off-road focus Canyon AT4, which begins at $45,395.  It sports a 2-inch lift, red recovery hooks, and an automatic locking rear differential.  Other highlights include heated front seats, an eight-way power driver’s seat, and cloth/CoreTec upholstery.  They’re joined by an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, and a remote start system.

Customers who prefer luxury can get the Canyon Denali for $52,495.  It features a classier exterior with a distinctive chrome grille, chrome side steps, and 20-inch aluminum wheels.  The truck also sports chrome mirror caps, LED fog lights, a spray-on bedliner, and a remote locking tailgate with an integrated storage compartment.

The interior is the star of the show as it features power leather front seats with heating and ventilation as well as a memory function on the driver’s side. That’s just the tip of the iceberg as the Denali also comes equipped with an 11-inch digital instrument cluster, a heated steering wheel, and a seven-speaker Bose premium audio system.  Other niceties include adaptive cruise control, a wireless smartphone charger, and a 6.3-inch multicolor head-up display.

The AT4X variant is slated to arrive in the spring and it will start at $56,995.  It’s more extreme than the standard AT4 as it features a 3-inch lift, front and rear locking differentials, and 17-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires.

Besides being more capable, the AT4X is more luxurious as it cribs a number of features from the Denali.  Among the highlights are heated and ventilated leather front seats, a heated steering wheel, a wireless smartphone charger, and an 11-inch digital instrument cluster.  Buyers will also find adaptive cruise control as well as the aforementioned Bose audio system and head up display.

The 2023 GMC Canyon will go into production early next year and you can build yours on the recently launched configurator.
