Shortly after the announcement of the Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato, the Italian coachbuilder published a series of revealing teasers of the limited-production special, confirming earlier rumors about the V6 powertrain and showing bits and pieces of its bespoke design.
The teasers, uploaded on the official Instagram page of Zagato, hint at a fully redesigned bodywork that has nothing in common with the recently facelifted Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan. The aggressive face of the sportscar has LED headlights reminiscent of Pininfarina’s 2010 Alfa Romeo 2uettottanta concept with graphics similar to the Tonale. We also get to see the sculpted bumper featuring large intakes, a carbon fiber splitter, and the traditional scudetto grille with Alfa Romeo’s logo printed in the honeycomb pattern.

The front fenders of the Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato have side gills similar to the ones on the 8C Competizione, with the triangular quadrifoglio badge above them and Zagato’s emblem below. As is the case with most Zagato creations, the bonnet has integrated vents. A cryptic shot of the interior shows two carbon-fiber bucket seats and a roll cage, hinting at a two-door two-seater layout. After all, SWB stands for short-wheelbase, and Alfa Romeo officials have talked about an upcoming sporstcar/supercar for too long.
The previous teaser has confirmed a Kamm-tail design for the rear end, similar to the Dodge Viper-based 2011 Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale. We wouldn’t be surprised if the model had other signature features of Zagato like the double bubble roof. The green shade of the bodywork looks similar to the Montreal Green of the limited-production Giulia GTAm and the large-diameter alloy wheels appear to be bespoke.
According to the latest reports, the Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato will sit on the Giorgio architecture that is currently underpinning the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio, plus the Maserati Grecale. There are rumors about ICE-powered and fully electric variants, although the teaser shot of the opened bonnet shows the biturbo 2.9-liter V6 petrol engine. The latter is good for 532 hp (397 kW / 540 PS) in the Giulia GTAm, although chances are it will be tuned to produce even more in the Giulia SWB Zagato.
Judging from the latest teasers, the reveal of the Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato is just around the corner, with a market launch expected in spring 2023. The sportscar will most likely be offered in a limited number, coming with a hefty price tag worthy of Zagato’s name and heritage.
