Supercars and luxury vehicles are often mentioned in rap, hip-hop, and R&B songs but they don’t usually end up in the title. That’s not the case with the debut single of recording artist Josh Remi which is simply called “C8”, as a homage to the eighth generation of the Chevrolet Corvette.

The actual song starts at 1:45 after a long intro. The latter shows the singer accompanied by a lady driving around in the C8 before abandoning it on the side of the road in a quest to escape the police. Besides the black Corvette that is the focus of the music video, there are plenty of references to the sportscar in the lyrics, including the catchy “I’ll pull up in the C8” that is repeated in the chorus.

The stand-out part of the lyrics is probably this: ” You remind me of my Chevy (my Chevrolet) vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom (vroom)… Got you hot and breathing heavy (so heavy) Ooo, ooo, ooo, ooo (ooo)”. Of course, this is not the first time a female partner has been associated with a sportscar, but it caught our attention.

The song continues with “Girl I know it’s 4 am, but I’m pushing 490… This ain’t a foreign whip, I got the mid-engine behind me” referring to the horsepower and midship powertrain layout of the latest Corvette. The “Red seats like your heels, luxury at its finest” verse following after that is highlighting the spec of this specific example that combines a black exterior with a red interior and a set of aftermarket alloy wheels. Finally, there is the “I’ll go 0-60 in less than 3” verse which is bragging about the C8’s 0-60 mph acceleration figure (2.9 seconds) before the lyrics take a more spicy turn.

Josh Remi is a singer and songwriter from Jacksonville, Florida. In another video uploaded on his YouTube channel, the recording artist drives what he describes as the “ultimate American supercar”. Talking about the Corvette, Remi says: “It means the world to me, not as just another car, but an experience that could never be replaced”.
