Bowers & Wilkins has come together with McLaren Automotive to launch a special version of the Px8 wireless headphones.

The British audio brand has developed the sound systems found in all McLaren models since 2015 and is now launching a set of Px8 McLaren Edition headphones with a Galvanic grey finish and complete with Papaya orange highlights.

Like the standard version of the Px8 headphones, those developed alongside McLaren Automotive have 40 mm Carbon Cone drive units inspired by the technology used in Bowers & Wilkins’ loudspeakers. These drive units are carefully positioned inside each earcup to ensure a consistent distance relative to the listener’s ears from every point across the surface of each driver. The company says this produces “a more immersive and highly accurate soundstage.”

Elsewhere, the Bowers & Wilkins Px8 McLaren Edition uses Qualcomm’s aptXTM adaptive wireless technology and also includes USB-C and 3.5 mm analogue cable connections. They also feature the company’s proprietary noise cancellation technology to shut out unwanted noise thanks to the use of six high-performance microphones.

“We are delighted to unveil the Px8 McLaren Edition, which builds on the award-winning and long-standing collaboration between McLaren and Bowers & Wilkins,” chief sales and marketing officer of McLaren Automotive, George Biggs said. “The shared ethos of pushing the boundaries, innovation and the pursuit for perfection is apparent in all products that both brands have collaborated on to-date. With the new headphones, the immersive audio experience that all receive in our supercars can now go beyond the road.”

Those who pick up a set of the new Px8 McLaren Edition headphones will also need to download the Bowers & Wilkins mobile app to set them up. The headphones are available through the Bowers & Wilkins website and select retailers and priced at $799 or £699 in the UK and €799 in Europe.
