Chinese brand Chery is getting ready to unveil a new EV in the midsize SUV segment as proven by a series of dark teasers. According to local media, the model is codenamed eQ7 and is expected to debut in production form in the second half of 2023.
The profile of the new Chery looks very similar to the Pininfarina-designed eQ5 that was introduced in 2020 and got updated in 2022. The window line with the chrome extension, the surfacing on the profile, the boxy wheel arches, and the pronounced rear shoulders are shared styling cues between the two SUVs. The front end however is different, with the supposedly larger eQ7 adopting simpler lines.

The Chery eQ7 appears to have split headlights, large intakes on the bumper, and a grille-less nose. We don’t get to see the tail but it looks like it has an inclined rear windshield and high-mounted horizontally-arranged LED taillights. The eQ7 could adopt an all-aluminum body like the recently updated eQ5. It is also expected to feature the latest technology in terms of ADAS and a fully digital cockpit similar to other Chery products.
Chery currently offers a wide range of models including the Tiggo line of SUVs, the Arrizo line of sedans, the Omoda 5, and the “Ant” eQ line of EVs. The new model will likely belong to the latter, coming with a fully electric powertrain. Details are scarce at the moment but the teasers suggest we might have an announcement soon, preparing us for the market launch in China that is rumored for the second half of next year.
