Just how much power is enough? For BMW, the X5 M Competition has more than enough grunt, churning out 617 hp and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque when it leaves the factory. For G-Power, those figures aren’t enough.
The German tuner’s latest upgrade package for the X5 M Competition lifts it to new heights and is known as the Typhoon S. In addition to seeing a variety of performance-oriented upgrades made to the super SUV, it also includes a handful of visual alterations, albeit nothing too over-the-top – at least for G-Power’s standards.

Starting with the 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8, G-Power has installed a pair of larger turbochargers that have larger compressor and turbine wheels in larger housings. These turbochargers also run higher boost pressures and reduce exhaust back pressure. The tuner has also fitted a GP-Deeptone stainless steel exhaust system with adjustable valves and carbon fiber tailpipes. Rounding out the upgrades are G-Power downpipes. The SUV is now good for a chunky 800 hp.
G-Power then turned its attention to the looks of the X5 M. Making it stand out is the Typhoon S carbon fiber aerodynamic body kit that adds a new front splitter, wheel arch extensions, side skirts, an eye-catching diffuser, and a prominent rear wing. The SUV also now sits on a set of forged Hurricane RR wheels measuring 23×11 at all four corners and wrapped in 315/25 tires.
Rounding out the modifications are height-adjustable springs that can lower the X5 M by up to 40 mm (1.5 inches) at the front and 45 mm (1.7 inches) at the rear. There’s no word on how much the full conversion costs.
