Chevrolet is hard at work developing a new ZR1-badged variant of the C8 Corvette but as it isn’t set to hit the market until 2024 at the earliest. If you’re in a hurry, then Hennessey Performance has a C7-based ZR1 offering levels of performance that even the C8 is unlikely to match.

Current rumors suggest that the next Corvette ZR1 will feature a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 engine pumping out 850 hp and 825 lb-ft (1,118 Nm) of torque, making it significantly more powerful than the new Z06 with its 650 hp and 600 lb-ft (813 Nm). Hennessey has done one better than this and developed a kit for the C7 ZR1 available in 850 hp and 1,000 hp guises.

The least powerful of the two options doesn’t just have 850 hp but also delivers an impressive 850 lb-ft (1,152 Nm) of torque at 4,300 rpm. These gains are achieved with a high-flow air induction system, long-tube stainless steel headers, stainless steel midpipes, high-flow catalytic converters, and new engine management calibration.

Those seeking to leave the C8 ZR1 firmly in their dust can then opt for the HPE1000 package. As the name implies, it is good for 1,000 hp at 6,400 rpm and also churns out 966 lb-ft (1,309 Nm) of torque at 4,400 rpm. It includes a high-flow air induction system, Hennessey lower pulley upgrade, long-tube stainless steel headers, custom HPE camshaft, ported cylinder heads, upgraded valve springs and retainers, upgraded intake valves and exhaust valves, upgraded lifters and push rods, stainless steel midpipes, high-flow catalytic converters, and a tuned ECU.

Both the HPE850 and HPE1000 packages include a 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty and other than some Hennessey badges, make no visual changes to the standard car.
