The electric driving range we expect from our plug-in hybrids has doubled in only a few years. We used to be content to travel 20-25 miles (32-40 km) before the combustion engine kicked in, but now many can do around 40 miles (64 km), and the best are capable of half as many miles again.
Jaguar’s updated F-Pace P400e PHEV certainly isn’t going to set any range records, but it has become far more useful thanks to its new 19.2 kWh battery pack that improves the driving range by 20 percent for a WLTP-certified 40 miles of near-silent running. That compares with just 33 miles (53 km) for the old car, whose hybrid-assisted 2.0-liter four-cylinder powertrain was rated at the same 398 hp (404 PS).
The boost is part of a series of updates and refinements to Jaguar’s nearly seven-year-old SUV for the 2024 model year, though most other manufacturers have only recently introduced their 2023 cars.

Jaguar has simplified the model lineup to make choosing an F-Pace easier for buyers, who now get to pick from R-Dynamic S, R-Dynamic SE Black, R-Dynamic HSE Black, 400 Sport, and SVR trim options. All F-Paces feature all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission, but only the SVR flagship gets Jaguar’s 542 hp (550 PS) 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine.
The base R-Dynamic S gains a digital instrument pack and 19-inch wheels, while all models from that point on get an ebony suede cloth headliner and gloss black exterior detailing on the mirror caps, grille, window surround, and rear badges. The Pivo Pro infotainment system also now comes with Alexa voice control2, what3words2 navigation as well as wireless Apple CarPlay 2 and Wireless Android Auto 2. Basically, if it’s got a 2 in the name, it’s probably fitted.
