New 2023 Nissan X-Trail Arrives In Australia From AU$36,750

The all-new Nissan X-Trail has finally launched in Australia and will be available in a plethora of different guises.

The latest-generation Nissan Rogue has been on sale in the United States for a while now but has taken quite a long time to land Down Under, prompting the car manufacturer to introduce minor model year upgrades to the previous-generation X-Trail on two occasions.

Underpinning the new X-Trail is the automaker’s CMF-C platform. The body-in-white makes use of more lightweight material and advanced stamping and welding techniques to increase strength but to also reduce weight. Nissan says the use of ultra high-strength steel in the body-in-white structure has risen from 19 per cent in the previous model to 35 per cent with this new model.

Powering the SUV is a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine that is good for 135 kW (181 hp) and 244 Nm (180 lb-ft) of torque, representing gains of 9 kW (12 hp) and 18 Nm (13 lb-ft) over the old model. The uprated X-Trail has also seen the towing capability rise by 500 kg over the previous generation to 2,000 kg (4,400 lbs) braked. A Trailer Sway Control program is also now standard equipment.

Nissan has also equipped the new SUV its latest ProPILOT driver assistance system. This system can accelerate and brake the vehicle within a single-lane on a highway. Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility suite of active safety features is also standard on all models and include Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Cruise Control with Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Rear Auto Emergency Braking with pedestrian and cyclist calibration, Junction Assist, and Driver Attention Alert. Models from the mid-range ST-L upwards also add semi-autonomous capabilities like Lane Keep Assist.

Sitting at the base of the range is the Nissan X-Trail ST 2WD (AU$36,750 / $25,147). Among its key features include auto LED headlights, LED taillights, High Beam Assist, rear camera, 7-inch digital instrument cluster, paddle shifters, Hill Descent Control, roof rails, 17-inch alloy wheels, and rear parking sensors. The ST is also available in 4WD seven-seat guise priced from AU$39,790 ($27,227).

Those looking for some added features can opt for the ST-L available in 2WD (AU$43,190 / $29,544) and 4WD seven-seat (AU$46,290) form. It adds privacy glass, auto dimming rear view mirror, fog lights, leather steering wheel, sliding rear seats, heated front seats, synthetic leather trim, dual-zone air conditioning, front parking sensors, tire pressure monitoring system, and 18-inch wheels.

Sitting near the top of the range is the X-Trail Ti (AU$49,990 / $34,207) with LED turn signals, intelligent rear view mirror, adaptive matrix LED headlights, 10.8-inch head-up display, 12.3-inch instrument cluster, 12.3-inch infotainment screen, ambient lighting, tri-zone air conditioning, panoramic sunroof, and 19-inch wheels. Topping out the model is the Ti-L 4WD (AU$52,990 / $36,260) with reverse tilt power windows with memory function, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, front seat memory functions, quilted Nappa leather accented seats, ambient lighting in the doors, 10-speaker Bose audio system, rear door sunshades, and a motion sensing power tailgate with position memory.
