Formula 1 World Champion Nico Rosberg picked up the keys to his brand new Rimac Nevera in August and has now shown us all that it is capable of along the mountain roads sitting above Monaco.

Every now and then, a car comes along that shakes up the industry and pushes it forward. The Rimac Nevera is one of those cars, offering levels of performance previously inconceivable for a road-going production car. It is so quick that it leaves Rosberg extremely impressed.

As you may already know, the Nevera is powered by a 120 kWh battery pack that drives four electric motors, resulting in a combined 1,887 hp and 1,740 lb-ft (2,360 Nm) of torque. It can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 1.85 seconds and race down the quarter-mile in 8.5 seconds.

While Rosberg hasn’t yet had the opportunity to test the Nevera on a drag strip, he is blown away by how it handles twisty mountain roads. The tires provide remarkable levels of grip, allowing the racer to throw it into corners at dizzying speeds, carry heaps of pace through the apex, and then accelerate out of corners unlike any other street car.

At one stage of the video, Rosberg turned the Nevera into drift mode and attempted to slide around a corner. While he made a valiant attempt, he was unable to control all 1,887 horses and span around. Rosberg isn’t the first person who has struggled to handle all of the hypercar’s grunt.

In August, Mate Rimac revealed that the CTO of a large car manufacturer attempted to drift the Nevera on a racetrack but ended up spinning out, slamming into three poles and destroying the prototype.
