Have you heard of the Dodge Viper ASC McLaren Diamondback before? Chances are you haven’t, as just a single example was ever built by American Specialty Cars. That very car was recently sold in an online auction.
This special Viper was unveiled at the 2006 Detroit Auto Show and while it started out life as a standard Viper, it is far from one now. For starters, American Speciality Cars went to work altering the exterior of the car, finishing it in a lovely shade dubbed Arctic Ice Pearl while a multitude of parts is bathed in naked carbon fiber, including the front splitter, rocker panels, side vents, and the complete rear fascia.

Elsewhere, the one-off Dodge sits on a set of 19-inch aluminum wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport tires measuring 275/35 at the front and 345/30 at the rear. The suspension has also been lowered and it sits on beefed-up Brembo brakes.
Then we come to the powertrain. The 8.0-liter naturally-aspirated V10 was modified by McLaren Performance Technologies with trumpeted air intakes and ported individual throttle bodies. According to McLaren itself, the V10 is said to be good for 615 horsepower and is coupled to a six-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential. A bespoke stainless-steel exhaust system has also been installed.
The Bring a Trailer listing notes that the car has a clean Carfax and has been driven a mere 80 miles (129 km) since new. It sold for $166,777.
