We recently took a moment to look back on the year that was in the car world and to ask you which releases were the most disappointing to you. It turns out that there are a lot of new cars that really missed the mark in your eyes. Here are the biggest flops according to you.
Honorable mention goes to a number of vehicles that got only a few votes or others that got votes in a group of cars. The BMW 7-Series, M2, and XM all received some votes. The Mercedes-AMG C63 also did thanks in part to its heavy weight and small engine.
The Subaru WRX was evidently so disappointing that some of you intentionally held back expectations on it so as to save your own feelings. MtnLife mentioned it and received six upvotes while SSS and no25 also commented about how disappointing Subaru as a whole was in 2022. The top two disappointments of the year were very clear though.
More: What Was The Most Disappointing New Car Of 2022?
The 2023 Honda Accord received 11 upvotes and at least four of you mentioned it. We’ll let user Holden Ute explain why: “There’s a difference between bland and clean design. It worries me because the Passat went the exact same direction back in 2012, and sales just went down from there. Its just so… simple.” JohnTaurus supplemented that comment saying “I think they half-azzed the Accord because the segment is dying.”
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Toyota bZ4X (and consequently, its Subaru twin, the Solterra) ended up being the most disappointing car according to votes. After Smartalec mentioned it, 12 of you upvoted it. As he put it, “Toyota is too complacent in the knowledge that whatever they bring out will sell as long as it has the Toyota badge.” On top of that, Yudha Bagaskara mentioned it along with the Acura Integra and Mazda CX-60 and eight of you gave that a thumbs up.
Hopefully, the cars that you’re most excited about in 2023 aren’t letdowns. Either way, we’ll be back here again in a year to sort out the best from the worst. Did we miss any? Let us know in the comments below!
