Ford has positioned itself for a successful future with two major branches, EV-equipped dealers, and even a final generation of ICE-powered Mustangs. It hasn’t always been so successful though. Today, we’re asking you what the most disappointing Ford of all time has been.
The answer probably isn’t as simple as aiming squarely at the most notoriously bad Fords of all time and calling it good. For example, the Ford Pinto is a notorious car for its dismal safety record. In our eyes, that doesn’t automatically make it the most disappointing Ford ever though. Hopes weren’t exactly sky-high for the little two-door car before its future went up in a blaze.
Now, on the other side of the coin, the Mustang II might deserve this designation. It did have a lot to live up to. The 1973 Mustang isn’t the most iconic pony car but it’s still beloved by many. The Mach 1 for example is so notable that it’s lent part of its nomenclature to the Mach-E.

Are there options from more modern times though? We think so. The second-generation Ford F-150 Raptor might be the best of the bunch. After the brutish and burly SVT Raptor left production in 2014, its replacement was better in every way on paper. It was more efficient, more powerful, and faster.
Despite that, it was never available with a V8 and for many, that was a big problem. It was such a big issue that despite tightening fuel economy regulations, Ford brought it back for the latest generation. We’re certainly not complaining about the introduction of a 700-hp (521 kW) F-150 though.
Nevertheless, we get the feeling that there are a number of answers that we haven’t mentioned. There are a lot of uninspiring Fords throughout history. We’re thinking of cars like the mid-1990s Taurus, the Probe, or one of the mid-1970s cars that weighed a few tons and made very little power. Let us know what your picks are in the comments below.
