You Can Now Drive The Audi Show Car In The F1 2022 Video Game

Audi has announced that the Formula 1 show car it presented earlier this year to celebrate its F1 announcement is now available to play in EA Sports and Codemasters’ F1 2022 video game.

Featuring the same dramatic livery as the show car, the in-game racer is being introduced as part of the “Podium Pass Series 4 VIP Tier,” and has been playable since December 7. Players will be able to take on the rest of the F1 grid in the new Audi show car that has been recreated in “perfect detail,” according to the automaker.

“It’s not a given to be a part of the official simulation of Formula 1 three years before our first race,” said Henrik Wenders, Head of Brand Audi. “Our show car has caused quite a stir from the very first moment with its striking design and the color scheme that is typical of Audi in motorsport. Everywhere it has been in action, the reactions have been extremely positive. I’m convinced that our show car will also win many fans in the virtual world.”

Audi plans to join the Formula 1 grid in 2026 when engine regulations shift to incorporate more biofuel. According to the F1 senior franchise director at Codemasters, Paul Jeal, the developers behind the game simply couldn’t wait that long to include the new team in their game.

“There was incredible excitement when Audi announced it would be joining the F1 grid,” said Jeal. “We are excited to deliver the stunning launch livery to EA SPORTS F1 22 players as part of Podium Pass Series 4, allowing Audi to establish itself as a title contender in the virtual world ahead of its debut in 2026.”

When it does arrive, Audi’s F1 car will be packed with new technology. The automaker has partnered with the longstanding Sauber racing team to develop the car, the first tests of which are expected to take place in 2025. Audi plans to create its own engines for the sport at its Neuberg an der Donau facility, which will incorporate more electric assistance and synthetic fuels than the current F1 racecars.
