Carlos Sainz has spent the last 9 years in the Formula 1 paddock but he has only just taken delivery of the first car he has purchased with his own money. It’s quite a special car, too.
For his entire tenure in Formula 1, Sainz has been driving around in a VW Golf his parents bought he when he was 18. However, once he signed on as a Ferrari driver, he decided it was the perfect opportunity to place an order for one of the car manufacturer’s most desirable models, the 812 Competizione.

The Spanish driver didn’t just order any old 812 Competizione either. In fact, he ordered it through Ferrari’s Tailor Made program that allowed him to configure it exactly to his dream specification.
The supercar’s exterior is bathed in a stunning shade of satin silver as Sainz says he likes darker colors. It also has a section of the hood finished in glossy carbon fiber and trimmed in bright red accents. The red accents continue across the carbon fiber front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser, and rear air vents. A stunning set of black wheels are also featured and sit over a set of red brake calipers.
Sainz also ensured that the cabin of his 812 Competizione was special. It has full bucket seats clad in grey and red Alcantara and has carbon fiber tread plates reading ‘Smooth Operator.’ The carpets also have the number ‘55’ stitched in red, Sainz’s racing number.
