Mike Flewitt stepped down as McLaren Automotive CEO in 2021, following an eight year run that saw the company expand and introduce countless high-performance models.
Flewitt is now back in action as the Briggs Automotive Company (BAC) has appointed him Chairman of the Board. The automaker says the move strengthens its senior leadership team and prepares them for the future as Flewitt brings four decades of experience at a “seminal” time.
Speaking of the latter, BAC plans to introduce new models and enter new global markets later this year. The company also promised “innovative new technologies” as they embark on an “ambitious next-stage scale-up plan and new product development.”

We’ll learn more about BAC’s plans later this year, but Mike Flewitt said “I have long admired what Neill and Ian Briggs have achieved with BAC, and their unflinching determination to engineer one of the finest driving machines on the planet.” He added, “With BAC’s recent successful expansion across Europe, North America and Asia, the brand is rapidly expanding as a bona fide global player. Having been privileged to see BAC’s future growth plans and details of the new model lineup, I am honored and excited in equal measure to accept Neill and Ian’s offer to join as Chairman and become part of the BAC story.”
BAC co-founder and design director Ian Briggs echoed the enthusiasm as he remarked, “We are elated that an industry leader of Mike’s incredible caliber has joined BAC as Chairman” and “his appointment marks a pivotal moment in BAC’s history.” Briggs added his “results-proven expertise and seasoned counsel will prove invaluable as we embark on the next stage of our strategic scale-up.”
