McLaren and sneaker brand APL (Athletic Propulsion Lab) say they are reacting to the strong positive feedback their first collaboration garnered back in August, and are expanding the line. The new drop will add three color schemes to the APL McLaren HySpeed line.
The new drop adds a pair with black tops and white soles, and a second pair that is tan and black, with a white sole, that’s inspired by the interiors of McLarens and the French Riviera. Finally, the third set of shoes combines magenta components with a hue that APL calls “Pristine.” It’s a creamy hue that has buttery yellow tones. APL says that the magenta represents McLaren’s performance, while pristine represents luxury.
“We were inspired by the ‘Wizards of Woking’, and as an homage, we at APL created and applied unique mixtures of texture and color to the HySpeed for the newest release,” said the founders of APL, Adam and Ryan Goldstone. “The new colors show how versatile and exciting the collaboration can be, specifically with a special colorway such as the Pristine/Magenta ombré fade.”

McLaren and APL released their first collection of shoes in August 2022. That drop included five color schemes, including predominantly white, orange, yellow, and pink shoes, as well as another ombre that faded from black and white.
Based on the APL HySpeed, the shoe is described as “an all-purpose performance running trainer.” It features a three-piece segmented midsole with “FutureFoam” pods that are linked by a carbon fiber plate.
“Following the hugely positive reception of the first drop of APL McLaren HySpeed sneakers, we have collaborated with APL to introduce exciting new colorways to the collection inspired by the vibrancy, dynamics and energy of our supercars,” said George Biggs, McLaren’s chief sales and marketing officer. “Both McLaren and APL are leaders in their fields and are committed to pushing the boundaries of design and technology for enhanced performance, which makes this collaboration such a perfect fit.”
As with the last drop, the new APL McLaren HySpeed sneakers will retail for $450 and can be purchased on the brand’s website, as well as at its flagship store in Los Angeles.
