At this weekend’s Nitro RX event in Quebec, Travis Pastrana will debut a new livery on his Group E racecar. As a tribute to his late friend, the car will wear graphics that call back to the one featured on Ken Block’s 2005 Subaru STI rally car. The snow-camo was Block’s first livery and this new one features his initials.

When Block arrived on the rallycross scene in 2005, Pastrana was a rookie as well. The two were teammates and worked hand in hand with Vermont SportsCar. VSC built the Subarus the pair raced with that year both for rally events and for the Gumball 3000. According to VSC, Block himself came up with the snow-camo pattern idea.

“It was a pattern that originated somewhere within DC Shoes snowboard business and Ken felt it would work really well on a car. It was stunning,” the company said on its Facebook page. Travis Pastrana himself mentioned the livery on his Instagram page and even shared a short clip of the car doing practice runs.

Gone are the DC Shoes logos on this new livery in favor of golden KBs as a further nod to Block. There’s no word on if the Group E car will keep this livery for the entire rest of the season or if it’ll only be for this next event in the great white north.

The event, which marks the seventh round of the season, begins on Friday at 6 pm EST and goes through mid-day Sunday. Parts of it will be streamed on the NitroRallycross channel on YouTube and on Peacock TV so even if you’re not in Quebec there’s a chance that you can watch some of the events online.
